A 47-year-old Filipino woman was arrested at Katunayake International Airport with cocaine valued at Rs. 200 million. The arrest was made by the Airport Customs Narcotics Control Unit.

The woman had smuggled over 2kg of cocaine from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, concealing it within her luggage among parcels of chilli powder, turmeric powder, and wheat flour. According to Sri Lanka Customs, she was paid $1,000 to transport the drugs.
