Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte is currently under special protection and receiving medical treatment in prison after being remanded for possessing an illegally imported luxury vehicle. The Nugegoda magistrate issued the order, citing Ratwatte's previous role as Minister of Prisons as a reason for the additional security measures.
According to prisons spokesman Gamini Dissanayake, Ratwatte has been transferred to the prison hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for several medical issues, including ailments related to his liver, lungs, and pancreas. His health report says the need for specialist care.
Ratwatte was arrested on October 31 by Mirihana Police and remanded until November 7. After his treatment, he will return to prison based on medical recommendations.
