Special transport services have been activated today to facilitate voters who traveled to their hometowns for the election to return to Colombo.
Ramal Siriwardena, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, said that long-distance bus services are running, with additional buses deployed as needed. Gemunu Wijeratne, Chairman of the Ceylon Private Bus Owners' Association, also announced an increased number of private buses in service.
Meanwhile, the Department of Railways has scheduled special train services to assist in the return journey, with trains operating from Galle, Matara, Beliatta, Badulla, and Kandy. The Samudradevi train departed Matara at 3:30 AM, while the Hikkaduwa train left Galle at 4:30 AM.
