How Was Easter Sunday Attack Compensation Distributed? SC Calls for Report

The Attorney General (AG) informed the Supreme Court today (18) that the Office for Reparations has received a total of Rs. 311 million in compensation for the victims of the Easter Sunday terror attacks, in line with the court's order related to the petitions filed on the matter.

The Additional Solicitor General, representing the AG, provided this update to the court during the hearing of Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions concerning the attacks, held this morning.

Following the report, the Supreme Court bench instructed the Additional Solicitor General to submit a detailed report on how the compensations have been distributed to the victims at the next court date.

The petitions were rescheduled to be recalled on 27 February 2025.

The hearing was conducted by a three-member bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justices Murdu Fernando, S. Thurairaja, and A.H.M.D. Nawaz.
