A protest demanding the integration of Development Officers into the Teachers' Service escalated into violence outside the Education Ministry at Isurupaya, leaving multiple individuals injured and four arrested, the Police said.

Two Development Officers participating in the protest sustained injuries and were admitted to National Hospital Colombo for treatment. The demonstration, which began peacefully, turned tense, leading to a confrontation with the Police.

A Sub-Inspector and two constables were also injured during the clash, with one officer requiring intensive care. Police confirmed that four individuals were taken into custody following the incident.
