New Democratic Front (NDF) Kalutara District Councillor Rohitha Abeygunawardena today (3 December) expressed his satisfaction with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s recent policy statement in Parliament, praising the President's ability to deliver his speech without relying on prepared notes.

Abeygunawardena also reflected on the government’s challenges and the role of the opposition, claiming,

“The government’s journey is not a smooth one. It faces a difficult path. Judging its merits and demerits within three months is not fair; it requires a year or two. I intend to play the role of a genuine opposition member. Traditionally, the opposition has rejected all positive actions of the government. We must move away from that mindset. As an opposition, I am prepared to think differently and focus on meeting the expectations of the people.”
