The government has announced a Rs. 6,000 allowance to support parents struggling to afford school stationery and equipment for their children.
This initiative will benefit children of “Aswesuma” recipients, those with disabled parents, children living in orphanages, and those in special circumstances requiring assistance.
Cabinet Spokesperson Nalinda Jayatissa confirmed that the programme will take effect from the upcoming school term. He also noted that the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal, which was presented by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya on 2 December.
