The government has decided to lower the fuel prices with effect from midnight today.
This decision was taken at the first Cabinet meeting held today with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and other Cabinet members.
Accordingly, the price of a liter of 92 Octane petrol has been reduced to Rs 117, which is a reduction by Rs 33. A liter of 95 Octane petrol will be sold for Rs 128, down from Rs 158.
The price of diesel is reduced to Rs 95 per liter from Rs 111 and the price of super diesel is reduced to Rs 110 from Rs 133.
A liter of kerosene has been reduced by Rs 16 and the new price is Rs 81.
