Certain fuel stations operating under Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) have not complied with the fuel price reduction which was announced by the new government yesterday.
Our reporters from Matara, Hatton and Hambantota said that all IOC filling stations in these areas have refused to provide oil to their customers under the new prices, saying that owners of the filling stations have not received orders from the LIOC to supply oil at the revised rates.
Meanwhile, another LIOC fuel station in Colombo 06 sold 95 octane petrol at Rs.131 after the government announced it to be Rs.128
Meanwhile, it is also reported that even after the announcement of reduction in fuel prices, many filling stations island-wide have refused to supply fuel at the new rates this morning.
However, the Ministry of Power and Energy told media that few individual incidents have been reported following the fuel price reductions. The Ministry has also announced some hotline numbers (0115243243/ 0115455130/ 0115455251/ 0115455254) to gather information in this regard.
The government yesterday (21) officially announced that the fuel prices will be decreased after yesterday midnight. Accordingly the price of Petrol (92 Octane) was dropped to Rs 117 while Petrol (95 Octane) was dropped to Rs 128.00.
