Commenting on former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's speech at Medamulana, former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga stated that Rajapaksa can say whatever he wants since he is not the leader of the party.
She stated this at the Minuwangoda Hospital following an observation tour.
Incidentally, the Minuwangoda SLFP Chief Organizer Prasanna Ranatunga is a leading supporter of Rajapaksa.
Rajapaksa announced this morning that he will return to politics to contest the upcoming parliamentary election. However, he did not specifically say what his party would be.
Kumaratunga's Secretary P. Dissanayake told media yesterday that she could also return to politics. However, she refused to comment on the matter today at Minuwangoda.
A close associate of Kumaratunga camp told Asian Mirror that she will contest only if Rajapaksa is given nominations from SLFP.
