Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga confirmed that former President Mahida Rajapaksa will not be given nominations from the SLFP for the next general election.

 

Speaking at an event organized by Sinhala, Muslim Collective in Matale to mark her 70th birthday, Kumaratunga said that Rajapaksa should be ashamed to ask for political position once again after being President for two terms.

 

Kumaratunga added that it was an irony that Rajapaksa is now speaking for the party. The country, and not the party, should be the priority, she added.
