The Central Committee of the Left Center will convene tomorrow to discuss the latest political developments and decide on its next step.
A spokesman of the Left Center told Asian Mirror that despite certain rumors, the decision to grant nominations to former president Mhinda Rajapaksa from the UPFA came as a rude shock.
President Maithripala Sirisena had recently assured the leaders of the Left Center that Rajapaksa will not be given nomination from the UPFA.
In the event of Rajapaksa contesting from the UPFA, the Left Center could either support a different group or decide not to contest, the spokesman said.
