Justice Sarath de Abrew, who today surrendered to the Mt. Lavinia Magistrate Court in connection with an alleged assault of his domestic helper, was released on a personal bail of Rs.500,000.

 

He was also asked to give a statement to the CID in connection with the incident.

 

Justice Sarath de Abrew, who was to be arrested over an alleged assault on a housemaid surrendered to Mount Lavinia Magistrate Courts earlier in the day.

 

The Attorney General yesterday instructed the CID to arrest him over the alleged assault.

 

A housemaid who was employed in Abrew's house lodged a complaint recently alleging that he assaulted her. She was admitted to Kalubowila Hospital following the alleged attack.

 

Sarath de Abrew yesterday filed a Fundamental Rights petition making several requests from the Supreme Court.
