Several former UPFA MPs who were accused of various illegal activities will not be given nominations under the UPFA ticket in the upcoming parliamentary election, political sources said.

 

Accordingly, former UPFA MPs Duminda Silva, Mervyn Silva, Sarana Gunawardena and Sajin de Vass Gunawardena will not be given nominations, political sources said.

 

Meanwhile, reports indicated that President Maithripala Sirisena objected to granting nomination to almost 20 MPs. Most of them supported former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's political comeback.
