Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem said that the SLMC  will contest the general election with the United National Party in several districts. However, the SLMC will contest in Batticaloa and Wanni districts under its symbol, the tree.

Speaking at a press conference at the Darussalam party headquarters in Colombo, Hakeem said that the SLMC will contest the election with the UNP in Digamadulla, Puttalam, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Kandy and Gampaha electoral districts.

Hakeem will be contesting the election under the UNP ticket from Kandy District.
