Provincial Councilor Hirunika Premachandra signed nominations to contest the general election under the UNP ticket a short while ago.

She will be contesting from the Colombo District, Deputy Foreign Minister Ajith P. Perera told Asian Mirror.

Premachandra was one of the key SLFP members who campaigned for President Maithripala Sirisena during the January 2015 Presidential Election.

She was strongly opposed to the UPFA decision to grant nominations to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
