Landslide warnings issued in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) on Sunday issued Level 1 and Level 2 landslide early warnings, valid from 11:00 am on August 2 until 11 pm on August 4.


Level 2 amber warnings were announced for the Kandy, Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya districts covering Pasabage Korale, Ganga-Ihala Korale, Yatinyanthota, Ambagamuwa and Norwood.


Level 1 yellow warnings were issued for Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura, affecting Aranayake, Dehiowita, Nuwara Eliya, Thalawakele, Kotmale East, Kotmale West, Nivitagala and Ratnapura.


Authorities urged residents in these areas to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures as further rainfall is expected.
