Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam has been summoned to appear before the Central Crime Investigation Bureau today over a statement he made concerning the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Kariyawasam has been asked to appear before the bureau at 10.30 a.m. as part of an investigation into the remarks.
Meanwhile, Kariyawasam has claimed that his comments regarding the IGP had been misinterpreted.
Authorities have reportedly taken the statement seriously as it relates to an alleged threat against the IGP and have initiated further investigations into the matter.
