The Supreme Court today (2) concluded the hearing of petitions challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution and announced that its confidential determination on the constitutionality of the Bill would be forwarded to the Speaker of Parliament.
The order was issued by a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena after considering submissions made by lawyers representing the petitioners challenging the Bill, those supporting it, and the Attorney General.
The bench directed the parties to file any written submissions relating to the petitions by 3 p.m. tomorrow (3).
