Ten individuals, including former Energy Ministers and ministry secretaries, are expected to provide statements in connection with coal transactions according to a senior official of the Presidential Commission investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the accountant of the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant has also been summoned before the Presidential Special Investigations Commission today to provide a statement regarding the transactions.
A spokesperson for the Commission said investigations into the coal transactions are nearing completion, with former ministers among those already questioned, according to Lankadeepa newsapaper.
The Commission has so far recorded 370 statements from 204 individuals, including former Energy Ministers, ministry secretaries, senior officials of the Lakvijaya Coal Company, members of the Procurement Commission and officials of the Ceylon Shipping Corporation.
