The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) is scheduled to meet this afternoon (8) under the chairmanship of MP Harsha de Silva to discuss the transfer of US$ 2.5 million from the Treasury to a third party.

The committee is expected to examine a report prepared by the Treasury regarding the transaction, which has drawn public and parliamentary attention in recent weeks.

According to reports, Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma and Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe have been requested to appear before the committee during the discussion.

The COPF had previously called for a report from the Treasury on the circumstances surrounding the transfer of the funds.

The report has since been submitted to Parliament and is expected to be reviewed by the committee at today’s meeting.
