People’s Bank has launched its 125th Cheque Deposit Kiosk (CDK) at the Self Banking Unit of its Mid City Branch, marking the highest number of cheque deposit kiosks deployed by any commercial bank in Sri Lanka.
The milestone, achieved during the Bank’s 65th anniversary year, was marked under the patronage of Chief Executive Officer/General Manager Clive Fonseka.
People’s Bank introduced its first Cheque Deposit Kiosk on 1 July 2021 to coincide with its 60th anniversary. The Bank said the latest addition reflects its continued commitment to digital innovation and customer-centric banking solutions.
The kiosks allow customers to deposit cheques without filling out deposit slips by entering only their account number, NIC number and telephone number. Customers can also deposit multiple cheques in a single transaction, with the machines operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Self Banking Units across the island.
The Bank has also introduced an e-receipt service, enabling customers to access details of their deposited cheques, including cheque images, through a secure link sent via SMS.
People’s Bank said it has also become the first commercial bank in Sri Lanka to introduce digital endorsement for cheques deposited through its Cheque Deposit Kiosks, with endorsements applied automatically during back-end processing.
The event was attended by Deputy General Manager (Recoveries) Naleen Pathiranage, Deputy General Manager (Channel Management) Aruni Liyanagunawardana and several other senior officials, staff and customers.
