Shiranthi Rajapaksa will appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) after returning from Singapore, Attorney-at-Law Manoj Gamage said.
Gamage, the media spokesperson for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said Rajapaksa was currently unwell and unable to appear before investigators. Her lawyer had informed the FCID that she was in Singapore for surgery and would provide a statement after returning to Sri Lanka, once the necessary arrangements had been made.
Rajapaksa was instructed on 16 September to appear before the FCID in connection with an investigation into financial transactions involving the Siriliya Saviya organisation, which operated under her leadership. She reportedly travelled to Singapore on the same day. (SW)
