Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP D.V. Chanaka has stated that the party plans to organise another rally on a scale comparable to its recent gathering in Anuradhapura, as part of efforts to pressure the Government into fulfilling its promises to the public.
Speaking to the media at the party headquarters, Chanaka said discussions had been held on strengthening the party’s branch level organisations, conducting a series of electorate level meetings, and organising the proposed rally.
He further stated that the party had called on its members, electorate organisers, and district organisers to prepare for its upcoming activities, particularly amid the possibility of MP Namal Rajapaksa’s imprisonment.
“If the Government thinks that imprisoning Namal Rajapaksa would disrupt the SLPP’s programme or allow the party to evade the promises it and Namal Rajapaksa made to the people, we will not let that happen,” Chanaka said.
He reiterated that the proposed rally would seek to pressure the Government into honouring its commitments to the people.
