Popular tuition teacher Tissa Jananayake has stated that he was aware of the controversial link to a gay website included in a government English module for nearly a month before the issue gained public attention.

Speaking on the matter, Jananayake mentioned that he had refrained from making a public statement earlier out of concern that it might create political repercussions for him.

He further claimed that he does not believe the inclusion of the website was an accident. Instead, Jananayake alleged that the individual responsible for incorporating the link into the syllabus received various benefits for doing so. He added that since the name of the website has already gained significant publicity through the media, the intended objectives of those who included it have likely been achieved.

Jananayake has previously faced intense criticism on social media for his controversial claims. He once used maps in his classroom to suggest that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement would lead to the division of the country. Additionally, he drew significant attention during the Dr Shafi Shihabdeen incident by sharing inaccurate information regarding the alleged sterilisation of women.
