SL Cricket On Crest Of A Volcano: SLC To Sign Tour Specific Contracts

With the controversy worsening between national cricket players and Sri Lanka Cricket, the country's cricket administration has allowed players to sign tour specific contracts for upcoming tours, allowing cricketers to make themselves unavailable for cricket tournaments at their sole discretion.

As a result, Lasith Malinga and Thisara Perera, who are now playing for IPL in Dubai, have been informed that they are allowed to play for their IPL teams, if they do not wish make themselves available for Sri Lanka's tour of England and Ireland.

Players and the cricket administration of Sri Lanka have so far failed to iron out differences with regard to the payment criteria of national players. It is learnt that national cricket players have still not informed the Selection Committee about their availability for the forthcoming England tour.

Players demanded 20 per cent from SLC’s International Cricket Council (ICC) revenue and the local cricket administration vehemently denied the demand. Although there were indications about an interim solution with players agreeing to a 12.5 per cent share, no final decision has been made in this regard. As a result of this standstill, the country's cricket is now on the crest of a possible volcano.
