Nawagaththegama Police on Friday (31) arrested four individuals who were distributing cards of UPFA candidate Neomal Perera along with chanting books (pirith poth).
Perera’s Coordinating Secreatry was also among those individuals, the police said.
The four individuals were reportedly distributing cards which contained election preference number of Perera along with the books to devotees at Abhinawarama Buddhist Temple, Nawagaththegama.
Police also seized 80 books (Pirith Poth), 8 other recital books, 356 cards and posters of the UPFA candidate, 10 T-shirts and 8 caps found in the possession of the suspects.
The two vans used by the suspects to arrive at the location were also taken into police custody.
