Postal voting for the upcoming general election began today across the postal voting centers around the country.
The voting took place peacefully and no major incident was recorded, Campaign for Free and Fair Election Executive Director Keerthi Tennakoon said in a statement.
CaFFE also said that illegal campaigning, which generally takes place regularly, was not seen widely.
Only one major incident was reported when several youth were arrested in Kurunegala for illegally distributing leaflets.
Today was assigned for teachers and police personnel to cast their postal votes.
