Prabhakaran's Former Bodyguard Wants To Solve Tamil Peoples' Problems

Sivanathan Navindra alias Venthan, a former bodyguard of the slain Tamil Tiger leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, said on Monday (03) that he wants to find solutions for the problems of Tamil community, such as ownership of lands and lack of agriculture facilities.

Sivanathan Navindra, who underwent rehabilitation conducted by Sri Lanka Army, is contesting the August 17 Sri Lankan parliamentary elections from the Jaffna electoral district as a candidate of the new outfit, Crusaders for Democracy (CFD). The CFD could not register as a new party and therefore is contesting as an independent group.

Apart from him there are eight other rehabilitated former LTTE cadres also are contesting under the ticket of CFD.

The 32-year-old told that he decided to contest for the general election because he has a respect for the democracy of the country.

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leaders refused their request of contesting for the election under the ticket of TNA. He slammed TNA saying that the party has ‘forgotten’ the effort LTTE took for protecting it.

However TNA would not be able to fool the Tamil community forever, he asserted. The people have put their trust upon CPF, Navindra said.
