Claiming that the construction cost cited by the government for Colombo-Kandy Expressway was fraudulent, Sri Lanka Freedom Party Spokesperson Dilan Perera invited Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and several others to take poison for robbing public money.

Speaking at a UPFA press conference earlier in the day, he said that Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera had once said that those who robs public money has to take poison. He called the members of the government to take poison as they have robbed public funds continuously.

Furthermore, Perera said that the expressway is the Northern Expressway the UPFA had planned. The UNP has just renamed it, he added.

Perera also said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is a candidate at the general election, violated election laws by laying the foundation stone and making a speech at the inauguration of the project.
