Deputy Minister of Justice Sujeewa Senasinghe was issued notice by Homagama Magistrate Y. R. B. Nelundeniya to appear in court on August 12 over an alleged verbal assault of a policeman.
The alleged incident took place during a recent election rally in Habarakada.
Senasinghe's lawyer Upali Senaratne informed court that his client was unable to attend the court session since he was attending a case at the Supreme Court.
Senasinghe's lawyer made a request for a later date but police objected this request.
