Former Deputy Minister Lakshman Wasantha Perera was released on bail by Matale Magistrate Sampath Gamage today.

 

Perera surrendered to police on August 3 on a complaint regarding an alleged attack on a UNP supporter during a rally in Matale recently. He was remanded until today after being produced before the magistrate on the same day.

 

Four of his supporters were recently arrested over the incident and remanded till August 12. An identification parade will be held on that day, Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara recently told Asian Mirror.

 

The rally took place on July 26 with the participation of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
