Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that there was no reason to worry about the national security under a future United National Party government since it will have an excellent Minister of Defence.

 

Speaking at a rally in Hiripitiya, Kurunegala, Wickremesinghe said that the defence minister under a future UNP government will be none other than President Maithripala Sirisena.

 

There should be no fear over a resurgence of the LTTE since the government will focus on the national security, Wickremesinghe said.

 

He also said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is inciting racism once again. However, he has forgotten that he signed an agreement with the LTTE in 2005, Wickremesinghe claimed.
