UPFA has cancelled the membership of four Provincial Councilors who are contesting the general election from the UNP, its General Secretary Susil Premajayantha said today.

 

Accordingly, UPFA Western PC Members Hirunika Premachandra, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe and Nirosha Athukorala have been expelled. Meanwhile, the membership of Uva PC Member Vadivel Suresh has also been cancelled by the UPFA.

 

The Elections Commissioner was also notified of the decision, Premajayantha announced.

 

Premajayantha added that in keeping with the laws and ethics of the party, these PC members will not be able to hold office. Therefore, new PC members will be named according to the preferential lists, he said.
