One individual was injured in an explosion inside a railway carriage at the Chilaw Railway Station last night.

 

The train arrived from Colombo Fort Railway Station to Chilaw Station at 7.10pm. A worker who was sweeping the carriage later had seen a small parcel. Upon inspection, it had exploded, injuring the worker.

 

The device seemed to be a small pipe of one and a half inch in diameter. There had been some explosives in the device. Meanwhile, the letters ‘ISIS’ could be seen on the remains of the device raising further speculation.
