A protest rally will be held this afternoon to mark the Rathupaswala incident two years ago, when three people were shot dead during a protest.
Nearly fifty others were also injured during the clash which occurred between the Army and the protestors on August 1, 2013, at Weliweriya.
The protestors were demanding clean water and the removal of a factory, which they claimed was polluting their sources of water.
Several civil organizations and the Rathupaswala villagers will take part in today's rally, which will be held near the controversial factory.
The slogan of the rally is 'Two years since the shooting, protestors to the courts, shooters remain free.'
The protestors are demanding compensation for the injured, water supply for a reasonable price, justice for those villagers who have been taken to courts and punishment for the real culprits who attacked the villagers.
A petition will also be signed reiterating these demands.
