National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa and his wife have been summoned to the police Financial Crimes Investigation Division this week.

 

Weerawansa has been summoned on August 13 while his wife Shashi Weerawansa was summoned on August 12.

 

Weerawansa’s lawyer Attorney-at-Law Kapila Gamage wrote to the OIC of police FCID yesterday protesting the summoning during an election period. He claims that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is attempting to take undue advantage through the FCID.

 

Both Wickremesinghe and Weerawansa are contesting the election from Colombo District.
