President Maithripala Sirisena said that today’s general election was the country’s most peaceful election in history due to good governance policies.

 

Issuing a statement, he advised to enjoy the election victory in the same manner.

 

The President pointed out that there were serious incidents during the last presidential election. The situation is drastically different today, he added.

 

Sirisena also said that the political authority used to influence the election through the police and public officials. However, he pointed out that he did not interfere with the election.
