The UNP won the Gampaha District with 577,004 votes while the UPFA managed to obtain only 547,958 votes.

Therefore the lead by the UNP is 27,046 votes.

The JVP also polled 87,880 votes and it won one seat.

In 2010, the UPFA won the Gampaha District with 589,476 votes. The UPFA won 12 seats in 2010. The UNP polled 266,523 votes and won 5 seats. Meanwhile, the DNA, which included the JVP, won one seat in 2010.
