President Maithripala Sirisena appointed Kumar Sangakkara as an Ambassador of the National Anti-narcotics Programme.

This comes weeks after the appointment of Tillekeratne Dilshan and Muttiah Muralitharan as Ambassadors for the KIND Programme to fight against the Chronic Kidney Disease.

Sangakkara is to retire from international cricket at the end of the second Test against India.
