Time To Restructure SLFP, Says Ranawaka

JHU General Secretary Champika Ranawaka said that the SLFP has now got a chance to restructure itself and re-enter the democratic political process.

He said that the UPFA intimidated the voters by threatening that the country will be divided if the UNF comes to power. However, the people voted in a UNF government, he pointed out. The country will be led by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during the next five years, he said.

Ranawaka said that the new government will be committed to introducing electoral reform so that each electorate will get a Member of Parliament. The new government will meanwhile work together to face the local and international challenges, he added.

Ranawak also vowed that the new government will not let the re-emergence of terrorism.
