The Tamil National Alliance announced that it will appoint two defeated candidates through its national list.

Former MP K. Thurairatnasingam from Trincomalee and Shanthi Sriskantharajah from Vanni have been nominated as National List MPs.

The TNA came to this decision after long discussions held at R. Sampanthan's residence in Trincomalee.

It was earlier expected that former MP Suresh Premachandran would be appointed as a national list MP.
