Sri Lanka Freedom Party Treasurer and nominated national list MP S.B. Dissanayake said that around 70 MPs elected under the UPFA ticket are expected to support the national government.

He expressed this view speaking at the SLFP press conference today.

This claim stands contrary to what was earlier claimed by the UPFA MPs supporting former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Several elected MPs told media on various occasions that 50 to 60 UPFA MPs will sit in opposition.

The SLFP Central Committee recently agreed to allow MPs opposing the national government to sit in opposition.
