Mervyn Admits Meeting With Ranil: Says He Doesn't Need Permission To Meet "Ex-boss"

Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva has admitted that he met Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in the US.

'Asian Mirror' exclusively reported on Tuesday that Minister Mervyn Silva met the Opposition Leader in the US to discuss about his "future political plans". The significance of this meeting is that it comes ahead of a crucial national level election - which might, in all probability, take place in early 2015.

Sunday Lankadeepa political column today reported that several UNP Parliamentarians met Minister Silva in Parliament and asked whether he met the Opposition Leader in the US for a discussion.

"Ranil Wickremesinghe is my former leader. I don't need anyone's permission to meet him," Silva had replied.

Silva had not informed top rung members of the UPFA that he met Wickremesinghe in the US. He had informed the party that he would bre travelling abroad to receive further medical treatment for a knee injury that was troubling him for years.
