Sarath Wijesuriya Warns Against Sympathy For Yoshitha Rajapaksa

February 02, 2016

Convener of National Movement for Social Justice Sarath Wijesuriya warned against treating Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s arrest with sympathy.

“Arresting Rajapaksa was an act of ‘capturing thieves’. It was not a political revenge or a revenge on Mahinda Rajapaksa”, Wijesuriya said.

Speaking about the incident, Saman Rathnapriya commented about the images showing former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s tear-filled eyes following his son’s arrest.

“Weren’t there tears on eyes of Ekneligoda and Fonseka families?”, Rathnapriya questioned.

Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second son Yoshitha, was arrested on Saturday under the Money Laundering Act and was remanded till February 11.
