Ward For COVID19 Patients At Wathupitiwala Hospital Declared Open In Ceremonious Manner When All Gatherings Are Banned

A temporary ward for COVID19 patients constructed at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital has been declared open in a ceremonious manner when all ceremonies are banned by the government due to the current situation in the country.

The ward was declared open by Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and a few other MPs also attended the opening.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Party sponsored the construction of the war under the guidance of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

The Police have strictly instructed both the state and the private sectors to refrain from organosing gatherings in any form as the number of COVID19 patients in Sri Lanka has seen a steep increase.

An islandwide lockdown has been imposed by the police until Monday 4 AM as a precautionary measure.
