Tragedy struck once again on Sri Lanka's roads as a car accident in the Pasyala Kajugama area of the Colombo Kandy road left approximately 22 people injured.
The incident unfolded when a private passenger transport bus, en route from Ampara to Colombo, attempted to overtake another vehicle on the road. In the process, a container vehicle approached from the opposite direction, leading to a series of collisions.
The bus driver swerved to the left to avoid a direct collision with the oncoming container. As a result, the bowser at the rear of the bus collided with its back, while the front of the bus collided with the left side of the container.
The aftermath of the accident was chaotic, with multiple passengers sustaining injuries of varying degrees. Emergency services and medical personnel promptly arrived at the scene to provide assistance to the injured.
As of the latest reports, 22 injured individuals have been transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the accident. Traffic management measures were put in place to ensure the safety of other road users in the area.
