Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa Visits Palestinian Embassy in Colombo: Says He Stands in Solidarity with Palestinian People

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid a visit to the Palestine Embassy in Colombo today to express his support for the Palestinian people in the midst of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. During discussions with the Palestinian Ambassador, Rajapaksa emphasized the global imperative of eradicating terrorism and reiterated that war is never the solution to any conflict.

Drawing from Sri Lanka's own historical experiences with prolonged conflict and civil war, Rajapaksa underscored the critical need for peace, which he believes offers the promise of prosperity for civilians in both countries. He shared insights on the importance of reconciliation and a peaceful coexistence between nations, advocating for diplomatic solutions to global issues.

"I have consistently supported the Palestinian cause, as the Founder President of the Sri Lanka Society for Solidarity with Palestine," Rajapaksa stated. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to advancing the Palestinian cause and his dedication to fostering global awareness of the situation. "War is not the solution,"Rajapaksa said. 

Rajapaksa also served as the Chairman of Sri Lanka- Palestine Friendship Association.
