Two sergeants attached to the Kuda Oya Police Station have been suspended following an assault on a young motorcyclist who reportedly couldn’t produce his license when the two officers stopped him on the road.

According to video footage that went viral on social media, the two officers were seen shoving the youth, an Advanced Level student, into the jeep and assaulting him.

Bystanders were seen intervening and requesting the police officers not to hit the youth.

The assaulted youth has been hospitalized with injuries.
