Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has initiated significant changes in the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) by appointing a seven-member Interim Committee. The Interim Committee will be chaired by the illustrious former Sri Lankan cricket captain, Arjuna Ranatunga, who led the national team to its historic World Cup victory in 1996.
These changes, authorized under the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973, establish an interim committee comprising respected figures in the legal and cricketing arenas. The committee members include retired Supreme Court Judges S. I. Imam and Rohini Marasinghe, retired High Court Judge Irangani Perera, alongside Upali Dharmadasa, Rakitha Rajapakshe, and Hisham Jamaldeen.
The Interim Committee will take effect immediately, temporarily suspending the previous board. This development is aimed at addressing governance issues and improving the management of Sri Lanka Cricket as the nation seeks to reinvigorate its performance on the international stage.
